Dr. Christopher D. Greggs,
Dr. Christopher D. Greggs, SPHR of Columbia, South Carolina is the National President of The Academia Society, Incorporated, the oldest non-Greek lettered, multicultural society established by African American college-trained men. Dr. Greggs will lead the illustrious organization through the 2018-2020 National Programmatic Thrust, “A Journey to Excellence: Securing the Vision with S.T.A.M.I.N.A. to Solidify the Future through S.U.C.C.E.S.S.”
Dr. Greggs is a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Sociology. He earned his Master of Arts Degree in Human Resources Management at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri and his Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Greggs’ dissertation is entitled “The Impact of a Total Rewards System on Employee Recruitment and Retention in State Government: An Organizational Leader’s Perspective.” He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI), the premier credentialing organization for the human resources profession. In addition to being certified through HRCI, he has been a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) for the past 11 years.
Professionally, Dr. Greggs serves as the Director of Employee Relations and Employee Development for the South Carolina Technical College System. Additionally, Dr. Greggs periodically serves as an adjunct faculty member teaching graduate-level courses in human resources management and organizational leadership. He has over 10 years of progressively complex experience and success in the fields of human resources management, academia, state government, and organizational leadership. Prior to returning to academia, Dr. Greggs served as a Senior Human Resources Consultant to over 30 state agencies for the South Carolina Department of Administration’s Division of State Human Resources. Dr. Greggs was employed for several years as a Senior Human Resources Consultant for the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. In addition, Dr. Greggs spent the vast majority of his professional career in human resources at his alma mater, Clemson University.
Dr. Greggs was initiated into the society through the Alpha Chapter at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in April 2006. A committed Life Member of The Academia Society, Incorporated with several years of leadership, academic excellence, and service, Dr. Greggs has served in several capacities, including National First Vice President, Middle Eastern Regional Director, and Interim South Atlantic Regional Director. Additionally, Dr. Greggs is a charter member of the Delta Omega Chapter. He served as the first President and Treasurer of the Delta Omega Chapter in Columbia, South Carolina.
